At some point in your lifetime, you will need to be able to identify a yeast infection.  Yeast infections can appear different and display different symptoms depending on where they are found on your body.  Many times, they appear as a patchy red rash. At times the rash will begin to give off pus.  

Infants are likely to get yeast infections in their mouths, because the fungus can find a wet and warm place to live. These infections look like a layer of white mucus on top of a red patch of skin. This condition is painful and it makes drinking and eating difficult.

Babies in diapers can develop a yeast infection in the diaper area because it is a warm and moist area. This is usually called diaper rash.  If you keep your baby in clean and dry diapers, the less likely it is they will have a diaper rash.  Keeping babies and children dry is the important if you want to avoid yeast infections.

Another are that yeast infections often occurs is the skin between fingers and toes.  The infection will look red and dry.  It can be very itchy and irritating.  Sweaty socks will often cause this problem.  Wear loose socks and change them often.  Dry feet are not as likely to get an infection.  

You can also get a yeast infections in your ear.  It could look like a normal ear infection and look red and swollen.  You may see a white cottage cheese like discharge from the affected ear.

The most well know are vaginal yeast infections. An estimated 75% of women will have this condition at least once. It is vital you know what this kind of yeast infection looks like.

The skin surrounding your vagina will look red and swollen. Your vagina will also seem very dry.  These are good signs that you have a yeast infection.  

There are different symptoms associated with this kind of yeast infection.  A thick white discharge can be present.  It is not your normal kind of discharge.  It could also have an slightly unpleasant, yeasty smell.  It looks sort of like cottage cheese.

The behavior of your children is another symptom of an ear yeast infection.  The child will be irritate because his or her ear hurts.  You can usually see them pulling or rubbing their ear more than usual.  They probably will have trouble sleeping.

After you know what a yeast infection looks like, you can find a treatment for it.  Always consult with a doctor before taking medicine, because some medicine can actually cause a future yeast infection to be more resistant to drugs.
